Xbox keeps overheating.....help?

Does it overheat after a long period of time, or soon after you turn your Xbox on?

Long period of time = Your Xbox is actually overheating
Short period of time = Temperature sensor broken or something else internally

If it's overheating quickly (around 20 minutes), i'd call Microsoft because it's probably not actually overheating.

If it's overheating after a long period of time you can: Put it in a well ventilated area (good air intake aswell as exhaust), if it's laying down (horizontal) make sure it's on a surface that doesn't collect heat and help overheat your Xbox (no blankets, carpet, ect), it could also have a lot of dust in it hindering the fans. If that be the case, you can open it up and fix that yourself if it's out of warranty or send it to Microsoft and have them do it.

the intercooler runs off the 360 as it's power source so that may be the reason your box is overheating also the controller charger adds extra work for the 360 to handle,it could be your room (the heat in your house due to the winter weather)
i use a regular fan to keep my 360 cool, it's laying flat with 2 empty dvd boxes under the edges on each side to make a gap under the system, then i use the fan to have constant air under the box and over the box it works after like 10 hours of skyrim my system was only a little warm and it only froze once (due to the large mb my save file was)
